Movie Central’s March Highlights

Movie Central storms into March with the new series Wild Things, new seasons of Nurse Jackie and United States of Tara and the season finales of La La Land, Tracey Ullman’s State of the Union and Secret Diary of a Call Girl. March also features great premiere movies including Julie & Julia starring Golden Globe®-winner Meryl Streep and Angels & Demons based on Dan Brown’s bestselling novel, plus Encore Avenue devotes a week to the Academy Awards® with Oscar®-winning films every night.

SERIES PREMIERE

WILD THINGS
This eight-part half-hour series from the makers of Transtasia, revisits Maria, Tiara and Cassandra – the three beautiful transgenders from the documentary film. The girls go on an eight-week road-trip in hopes of raising money for Maria’s brother who has a life-threatening disease. Week after week the girls try something new from bull-riding to boxing and fishing in order to raise money. Each episode follows their journey into womanhood as they discover what it means and what it takes to be a woman. Their wild antics, big hearts, boundless energy and willingness to go the distance for a friend make the trio irresistible.

NURSE JACKIE – SEASON 2
Three-time Emmy® winner Edie Falco returns in season 2 of the half-hour dark comedy that follows a sharp-witted New York City-based nurse as she survives the chaotic grind of working and saving lives in a hectic hospital. Suffering from chronic back pain and with a white lie here, a bent rule there, and a steady dose of pain relievers, Jackie does whatever it takes to get the job done – and done right. Also starring Peter Facinelli, Paul Schulze and Haaz Sleiman.

UNITED STATES OF TARA – SEASON 2
Toni Collette returns to her Golden Globe®-winning role as the many characters in one in United States of Tara Season 2. Executive produced by DW Studios L.L.C. and created by Diablo Cody, the series delves into how a family copes with the various alters of matriarch Tara that may appear on any given day and range in age, temperament and even gender. John Corbett co-stars as Max, her supportive husband who tries to keep the family together, Kate (Brie Larson) and Marshall (Keir Gilchrist) are her teenage children who just wish their mother was a bit more “normal” while her sister Charmaine (Rosemarie DeWitt), holds the key to Tara’s past.

SEASON FINALES

LA LA LAND
Season 1 of Marc Wootton’s hybrid documentary and comedy series La La Land comes to an eventful close. Brendan, Shirley and Gary have yet to find success in L.A. Brendan puts his career aspirations on hold to fight for custody of his son Jack. He hopes to receive support from his life coach Wayne Levine, but instead is reprimanded for the way he lives his life. Shirley enlists the help of Pastor Bob Larson to exorcize the spirits living in him, one of whom is Adolf Hitler. Meanwhile, Gary collaborates with director Tommy Wiseau on a short film, but tempers soar over the handling of the budget leaving the film in Gary’s undisciplined hands.

TRACEY ULLMAN’S SATE OF THE UNION – SEASON 3
Emmy® Award winner Tracey Ullman closes the third season of State of the Union using her trademark wit and sarcasm. Her original characters and celebrity impersonations provide satirical and riotous insights on society.

SECRET DIARY OF A CALL GIRL – SEASON 3
In the season finale, Bambi and Byron’s wedding has arrived and while Belle helps Bambi prepare, Ben helps Byron stay sober for the ceremony. Stephanie offers Belle a new client who owns his own island in the Maldives, but she doesn’t think she can leave Duncan for weeks on end. After the ceremony, Belle discovers an unpleasant side of Duncan. Not one to suffer quietly, Belle uses him for material in her book – there’s no way he’s going to profit from her pain.
