More than 31 million Canadians have experienced Vancouver 2010 through Day 4 on the platforms of Canada’s Olympic Broadcast Media Consortium, the Consortium’s updated CUME index indicates today. A total of 26.2 million viewers watched television coverage yesterday, representing 78% of all Canadians. Last night, an average audience of 6.3 million viewers, including 1.4 million Francophones, watched the Victory Ceremony in which Alexandre Bilodeau was presented with Canada’s first gold medal on home soil, peaking at 7.1 million during the playing of O Canada.

– 80% of all people in English Canada and 71% of all Francophones in Quebec experienced the Games on television yesterday.
– Both TSN (1.3 million) and Rogers Sportsnet (1.1 million) exceeded an average audience of one million viewers in prime time.
– Sportsnet broke a ratings record for the second day in a row with 1.9 million viewers for Jeremy Wotherspoon’s Men’s 500m Long Track Speed Skating race.
– The Canada/Switzerland Women’s Hockey match was #1 on TSN, with 1.6 million viewers.
– JEUX OLYMPIQUES AUX HEURES DE GRANDE ÉCOUTE delivered 638,000 viewers for V/CPAC, RDS and RIS, while JEUX OLYMPIQUES EN JOURNÉE was watched by 449,000 viewers.
– Top event on V/CPAC was Pairs Free Skate with 522,000 viewers, while RDS delivered 540,000 viewers for Men’s Snowboard Cross.

– CTVOlympics.ca and RDSolympiques.ca have surpassed the previous record of page views during an Olympic Games. With 48.5 million page views to-date during Vancouver 2010, the sites have surpassed the record of 45 million set at Beijing 2008.
– Consortium websites are resonating with online audiences as the Games proceed. Day 4 saw the following increases over Day 3:
– Nearly double the number of on-demand videos being consumed;
– 81% increase in the number of hours of video consumers watched;
– 33% increase in time spent watching video per user.
– Top viewed article and video for the day was Alexandre Bilodeau’s Gold Medal ceremony.
