Proper Television Acquires BuzzTaxi Communications

Leading factual entertainment creator Proper Television today announced that it has acquired international television distribution company BuzzTaxiCommunications. This purchase marks an important milestone for Proper Television, as the Canadian production company expands into the content distribution business. Rebranding details will be announced shortly.

Effective immediately, Proper Television will wholly own and operate BuzzTaxi Communications, an energetic and forward-thinking content distribution company, operating both domestically and internationally. Founding partners Jenna Bourdeau and Natalie Vinet will remain on the executive team as vice-presidents. There will be no personnel changes for either company as a result of the acquisition.

“It’s the obvious next step in the evolution of Proper. Acquiring a cracking company like BuzzTaxi means we can hit the ground running with our growing number of original series, as well as aggressively seek third-party content,” said Guy O’Sullivan, President of Proper Television. “Jenna and Natalie have spent more than a decade out in the marketplace and their know-how will be invaluable as we grow the Proper brand.”

“Proper is an undeniable production force, creating top-notch programming here in Canada,” said Jenna Bourdeau, Vice-President, Proper Distribution. “We’re thrilled to bring this caliber of prime time factual entertainment to the global market.”

“We’ve worked very closely with our production clients over the years and can now expand the services we provide, including earlier involvement in the financing stage for the right project,” said Natalie Vinet, Vice-President, Proper Distribution.

Proper Television is one of Canada’s strongest and most sought-after creators of factual programming, generating series including Canada’s Worst DriverStorage Wars Canada, and the recently announced MasterChef Canada. Recognized as a leading provider of factual entertainment, docu-drama, reality, documentary, and specialist factual programming, Proper has earned a reputation for creating world-class original television.
BuzzTaxi Communications was established in 1999 and has become a recognized and reputable player in the international market, having an extensive client base and an impressive catalogue of factual content, including documentaries and lifestyle series. Titles currently being distributed by BuzzTaxi include Les Stroud’s Survivorman series, Canada’s Handyman Challenge and Real Designing Women from Firvalley Productions.
