Tricon Inks International Deals At MIPCOM

Tricon Films & Television, one of North America’s fastest growing production and distribution companies, announces the sale of more than 200 hours of scripted, lifestyle, sport, documentary and kids’ programming to international broadcasters following last month’s MIPCOM.

The U.K.-based CSC Media Group picked up Tricon‘s kids’ programming including the highly successful series The Next Star (Seasons 1 through 3), a nationwide search for the next young singing sensation, for their channel Pop Girl. CSC Media Group also picked up GRRtv, the world’s first motorsports show aimed at kids, for their channel Kix.

Additional sales include home renovation programming with Marriage Under Construction (Seasons 1 and 2) going to Non Stop Television in Scandinavia while House Of Bryan was sold to First HDTV in Russia. The Russian network also scooped up five sport-adventure series including Motorhead Traveler, PWCtv, Sledsense, and MX Culture, as well as international travel series Life’s A Trip.

Red Media Group Russia picked up additional lifestyle programming including cooking show Fresh with Anna Olson (Season 1), sun and surf travel series Tanlines, and park exploration series Camp N’ Out. On the scripted front, noir science-fiction series Forbidden Science was also added to the lineup.

On the doc stream, Tricon sold brand new feature length hit RUSH: Beyond The Lighted Stage, which chronicles the band’s 40-year success story to Globosat in Brazil. Environmentally friendly doc Chemerical was sold to Ushuaïa tv in France, while Garbage went to VEA in Australia along with Edge Codes, a radical journey through the history of motion picture editing. The coming of age documentary Murid went to YES-DBS in Israel.

Four international networks including Planete No Limit in France, Canal +/Kuchnia TV in Poland, HBO Central Europe, and YES-DBS in Israel, also nabbed The Story of Furious Pete, which follows Pete who, after overcoming anorexia, turned his life around and became a world-renowned competitive food-eating champion.
